United Airlines Polaris Business Class SYD-SFO

I was fortunate to experience Polaris Business Class on United Airlines Boeing 777-300, seat 3A, departing from Sydney, Australia, en route to San Francisco.

This seat offers enhanced privacy, shielding you from disturbances caused by carts or passing passengers due to its proximity to the window, which is further protected by storage compartments. In contrast, seats closer to the aisle provide less privacy and are susceptible to view from adjacent passengers, as evident in the photograph.

During my 13.5-hour business class flight, the culinary experience was satisfactory, although I have encountered superior dining options on Singapore Airlines.

The meal commenced with a delectable shrimp appetiser. The shrimp were exceptionally fresh and flavour. However, the overall experience lacked a profound sense of excitement.

The main course concluded with succulent beef short ribs, slightly overcooked and dry. However, considering that they were prepared at 34,000 feet in the air, it is understandable that they may not have been perfectly cooked.

After the meal service it was time to relax, watch some movies and tv on my iPad and get comfy for the remaining 11 hours.

TIP: Request a mattress topper from the flight crew at the outset of your business class flight. Business class typically has insufficient mattresses for all passengers, and a mattress topper can significantly enhance your sleep experience.

It was time to retire for the night. However, unlike other airlines (Fiji Airways), which make the bed by unpacking blankets and other bedding, American-based airlines do not provide this service and leave it to the passenger to figure out themselves, although I didn't ask for assistance.

My sleep during the 13-hour long-haul flight was exceptionally restful, ranking among the best I have experienced on such an aircraft. It is possible that I was already fatigued or simply content with the lie-flat seat. Typically, flights from Australia to the United States encounter turbulence, but this time, I remained unaffected by any disturbances.

Approximately two hours prior to my arrival at San Francisco International Airport, the breakfast service commenced. I opted for the Spinach, Feta, and Rosemary Frittata, which proved to be an exceptional culinary experience, despite having encountered superior frittatas on other airlines.

Shortly after arriving in San Francisco, my tenure in United Polaris Business Class came to an end. Despite the mixed reviews I had read regarding the crew and product, I found the experience to be enjoyable.
